Alice is the female given name or alias used by various individuals in the DC Universe. The most prominent and notable is Kate Kane's twisted twin sister Elizabeth "Beth" Kane, also Bruce Wayne's cousin. Thought to have died after becoming victim of a terrorist kidnapping when she was young, Beth grew into adulthood mentally unstable and kept herself away from her family. Ultimately turning to a life of crime and drastically changing her look to become an unhinged Steampunk version of the protagonist from Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. She has since go on to serve as the arch-nemesis to her sister's Batwoman, although they have acted as allies on several occasions. The character has also been known to use the aliases of Red Alice and the Mother of War. She has been a member of the Religion of Crime and the Wonderland Gang.
