Murmur is Michael Amar, a serial killer and enemy to the Flash. Amar was a respected surgeon until he went on a killing spree to stop the voices in his head. His psychosis forced him to blurt out confessions to his crimes. This led to him cutting out his own tongue and sewing his lips shut. He has been a member of the Rogues Gallery.

There was an earlier villain named Murmur, a minor demon who was sent to hunt the Earth-born Angel Linda Danvers.

Murmur was created by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver, first appearing in the graphic novel The Flash: Iron Heights. (2001)
