Lakhesis is one of the Moirai, the Fates of Greek antiquity. Alongside her sisters Atropos and Clotho, Lakhesis, she measured out lives on the Thread of Life. Lakhesis "the allotter" measured how long each thread would be. The fates are a common triumvirate in European myth and are sometimes equated to the Morrigan and the Kindly Ones.

The Fates were first adapted by David Vern Reed and Walt Simonson in Batman #300 (1978).
