Despite being a team of aviators, the Blackhawk Squadron has employed a number of submarines in their adventures.

History

Quality Universe

The Blackhawks first built an atomic submarine called the Hawkmarine to battle Sea Wolf, a female villain in command of a submarine wolfpack, who was responsible for sinking US arms shipments to Europe in the North Atlantic.[1] Later, the submarine's name was changed to Hawksub (or Hawk-sub).

In the mid-1950s, the Blackhawks designed another atomic submarine, built by the U.S. Navy, named Sea Hawk, that could descend to a depth of 1500 feet. The Soviet military obtained blueprints of the submarine and built a copy immediately. At the end of Sea Hawk's first cruise, the original Sea Hawk was sunk and the Blackhawks captured the Russian prototype. However the plans were compromised, and the USSR produced more copies of this remarkable warship.[2]

Earth-One

Like the various Blackhawk Islands, there have been a series of Hawksubs. These vessels were used frequently by the Blackhawks to battle seafaring villains such as Killer Shark, Sting Ray, and Octo.
