A Chimera is a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature composed of different animal parts. Typically, it is depicted as a lion with a goat's head protruding from its back and a tail ending with a snake's head. Some representations also include dragon's wings.
History
The original Chimera, daughter of Typhon and Echidna, was a creature from Lycia, Asia Minor,[1] who was killed by the hero Bellerophon riding the winged horse Pegasus.[2]
The Amazons domesticated chimeras and used them as steeds.[citation needed]
